Biosecurity Week and awareness month - 2024

July 22-28th is Biosecurity Week 2024, and August is Biosecurity Awareness Month.

Biosecurity is vital to protect New Zealand’s ability to grow primary products, stay healthy, and preserve our natural heritage. The theme this year, is 'Maintaining the Gains - Puritia te Aronga', which recognises the importance of tenacity in biosecurity.

How you can help:

• Keep a watch for anything that is potentially an unwanted pest of disease.
• Report any sightings to the MPI free 24-hour emergency hotline 0800 80 99 66.
• Start a backyard trapping project to help minimize the numbers of introduced pests in NZ
